Smith and Sons

Mission Statement

To provide Central Michigan with quality meats, products, custom processing and excellent customer service.

Community

At Smith and Sons, we’re deeply rooted in our community. Every year, we’re honored to donate our facilities to the Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival for crafting their signature pork sausage. Beyond this tradition, we proudly champion the youth in our surrounding counties through sponsorship of the Isabella and Midland county 4-H clubs. At Smith and Sons, we believe in nourishing both our community and its future.

History

Smith and Sons Meat Processing Inc. stands tall on the rich history of our meat processing legacy. Our story begins in 1948 with Collin's Freezer Meats, founded by Mable Collins and her sons, Quentin and Hebert. In 1974, it was rebranded as Mount Pleasant Meats under the ownership of Nickolus Zaleski. The legacy continued with Charlie Anderson and Timothy Noll from 1980 to 1986, followed by Fred Straus, who renamed it Straus Packing Inc. in 1986. The torch was then passed to Ken Rau and Robert Riley in 2000, who called it Double R Meats. Finally, in 2005, Russell Smith acquired the company, and it became what you now know and trust as Smith and Sons Meat Processing Inc.

From our early days to our present, we have evolved and adapted, but our commitment to quality remains unwavering. We proudly serve the Central Michigan community, carrying forward a tradition that spans generations.
